January 31st

It's almost February! Febrauary is great, because it goes by so quickly and then it's suddenly March, which means that winter is ending and summer is near! Also, spring break! That's in one month! One month until I maybe see Alan Rickman! Ohhh boy!

I keep putting off cleaning my room and it's getting a little terrifying in here.

I'm in the mood for a smoothie. An exotic smoothie. When will the day come when one can order food through the computer and have it teleported to their house? Scientists, please work on this.

January 30th

I'm about five pageviews away from 15,000 now, so I just wanted to quickly thank you all for your continued support! (For new readers, I relocated the blog at the start of 2011, so that's 15,000 in a year...not much, really, but it still means a lot!)

Mondays are, seemingly innately, just not interesting days. My classes were quite average, as was the rest of my day. I did start the New Year Revolution today though, which is so far enjoyable. You can participate, too, right here!

January 29th

Didn't it just become the weekend about an hour ago? Where has it gone? ...Though on the plus side, at least I can buy milk tomorrow. Why is the campus grocery store closed on Sundays?

Agh I have a math test this week. I don't think it will be too hard, but my god, I really hate math tests. They're just innately evil.

I'm trying to stay up a bit longer so I won't wake up at 6:00 in the morning and not be able to fall back asleep, but I'm getting sleepy. (This is despite the fact that I'm currently drinking a caffeinated beverage. Caffeine has never worked on me and I don't know why.)

I wish my clothes cleaned themselves.

January 28th

Yup, Nightwish's new album is quite good.

I'm going out with Chelsea (and Devon?) tonight, and I'm excited even though I don't have any idea what we're doing. Adventure!

I'm like perpetually out of milk. I just drink it so often and every few days I need more. I'm too poor for this.

...Okay, I type too often on my iPhone. I just double-tapped the spacebar to try to put a period in.

January 27th

Today I woke up with PMS rage flowing through my veins. You know, the kind where someone talking pisses you off because how dare they talk in your personal space. Since then, I've been all hyper-emotional about everything. For example, I decided to explore the basement of my school's library today. It smelled like musty old books and my brain melted. Then, by complete chance, I stumbled across some Sherlock Holmes books and got so excited that I got a bit teary-eyed.

In even happier news, I might get to see Seminar on Broadway in March. It's a big "if" right now, but I can assure you that I would be an absolute mess of joy if I got to go. (For those of you who don't know, Alan Rickman is the lead.) So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for now!

My helix piercing has been hurting today. How utterly frustrating.

January 26th

Time for sleepy blogging!

I can't wait to meet my local Sherlockians.

Fin.

January 25th

I can't believe that it's almost February. And February always seems to go by so fast. It's going to be Spring before I know it and I'm excited. Spring means it won't be a hundred degrees below zero anymore. Although this week has been pleasantly warm for January.

I need to look up the origins of the word February and figure out why the hell it's got that extra "r" in there. Also Wednesday. How did that word happen?

January 24th

Happy Tuesday! My theatre class absolutely cracks me up. We always do the strangest warmups and basically our professor is one of those crazy acting coaches with bizarre Russian techniques and I feel like I'm in a sitcom or something.

Chelsea and I are going sledding on Friday! I haven't been sledding in ages! I wish I had snow pants, though.

If anyone wants me to write them a letter, I just got a ton of envelopes. So you should find me on Facebook and send me your address.

January 23rd

I'm ready for The Hunger Games movie to come out now. Also for the new seasons of Misfits and Sherlock and Doctor Who. And for The Hobbit. I just want everything to come out within the next six months and then I will be happy.

So the Ninth Doctor is not getting any nicer and it's making it hard to watch the first season because he keeps pissing me off. Ten isn't even my favorite but my god do I want him now.

January 22nd

I love rediscovering old songs in my iTunes library. I have a lot of songs in my library, so sometimes really good ones just slip under the radar for awhile and I forget about them, and then I put my library of shuffle and they turn up and I fall in love all over again.

Although it does remind me how unfortunate not being at home is, because I can't sing along with the songs. Whisper-singing just isn't the same, and I can't hit the high notes, and...well, first world problems, huh?

By the way, I am always open to music suggestions! Put them in the comments!

January 21st

I have come up with my New Year's "resolution" - I don't know if resolution is the right word, seeing as it's just something I want to do but not for any personal gain or for the benefit of anyone else. Well, I suppose it's personal gain because I'll be gaining entertainment...and I guess making myself happy is a good resolution...oh, well. What I want to do is watch all of the "new" Doctor Who episodes (the ones that have happened since the series reboot in 2005) in chronological order. There are about 90 episodes, so I think I lot of this watching will happen in the summer as opposed to during the school year, but I can always watch on weekends! Tonight I watched the first episode, "Rose." If any of you would like to join me on this excursion, I would be very excited! Doctor Who is a great show. The first season is a bit shaky in the beginning, but it gets extremely good!

January 20th

No news is good news, right?

Why does the smell of air freshener fade so quickly? I want my room to smell like Thai Dragonfruit!

This weekend will be dedicated to homework, Tumblr, and Pokémon.

January 19th

I want to have theatre class every day and math never. Then I would be truly happy.

I am eating Ricola recreationally now. Mmmmh lemon mint.

I just had to take a break from writing for a second because I just heard the most bizarre noises coming form outside. It's like -20°F, there's no reason anyone should be outside, let alone making strained sex noises. I don't understand this school sometimes.

Just to be topical for a second...screw you, SOPA and PIPA. I want Megaupload to never ever go away please.

January 18th

I haven't got anything good to say today because I have a massive headache and my whole body hurts and I just feel like crap.

Ugh. I'm gonna watch Sherlock.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

January 17th

HI LEXA.
Lexa and I finally Skyped today, after approximately one million days of not Skyping. We talked about really important things, like our hair and Pokémon.

So my theatre class is brilliant. It's exactly like the ones in the movies, where you do ridiculous exercises and the teacher is crazy but it's totally fun. I wish I had it every day. Can I just minor in theatre or something?

Also, is it the weekend yet?

January 16th

OH MY GOD SHERLOCK
Does anyone here watch Sherlock (the BBC one, not the RDJ ones)? Oh my god. The season finale was last night and it was amazing. It's such a well-executed, well-written, perfectly acted, AWESOME show. And the first season is on Netflix, so if you've got that, do yourself a favor and watch. There are currently six episodes, which are each 1.5 hours, and there are two seasons. So you can catch up pretty quickly. Really, just do it. For me.

If not for me, for Benny Thundersnatch and Marty Freebles!
(Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman)

January 15th

THE LION KING WAS GREAT. God, it's just so visually stimulating and the music is wonderful. Plus, Mufasa was a serious Hottie McBadass. (That's one thing I'd forgotten about The Lion King...there are a lot of buff, shirtless, musically talented guys all over the place.) Anyway, we had an understudy for Scar, and he was unbelievable, so I can't even imagine what the "real" Scar is like.

Check out Mufasa lookin' all cool and stuff.

So the Golden Globes were tonight. I've actually seen The Descendants, so I'm glad it won, but everything else I was kind of blah about. The Artist just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. But hey, the BAFTAs and the Oscars, a.k.a. the awards that are actually important, are still to come. I'm excited. I so hope that Alan Rickman gets a nom at the BAFTAs, since he's on the long list.

January 14th

I'm about halfway through TFiOS! I started reading it tonight, and so far I love it. I'm quite sensitive to spoilers, so I won't be specific, but just know that I really enjoy it!

Beauty and the Beast in 3D was absolutely amazing. The only problem was this total dickwad kid in front of me who kept talking and singing...so I kept kicking the back of his seat. I'm not at all a violent person, but I seriously wanted to punch with teeth out. Disrespectful assholes get no love from me.
But the movie itself was beautiful. It was so enchanting and the 3D was exceptionally well done. I just adored it, really. The Tangled short was good too, and seeing the Brave trailer in such a cinematic setting may or may not have made me teary-eyed...

So, now to read more TFiOS! I can't wait for The Lion King tomorrow! Oh, and HeartGold is going well! It's such a well-made game!

Friday, January 13, 2012

January 13th

Oh, glorious day! Not only did I get my copy of The Fault in Our Stars today, but HeartGold also came! Yes, that's right, Pokémon. Oh, but it's lovely! I've already beaten the first two gyms and I have two wonderful Pokémon! (And some not-as-exciting ones, too.) I haven't started reading TFiOS yet, but I'm going to start after I finish writing this and get some food. Care to take a gander at my J-scribble?

It's hard to hold open a hard cover book like that without damaging the spine! And trust me, I do not like when my books' spines are all messed up.

Another reason this weekend is going to be great, other than HeartGold, TFiOS, and The Lion King...I'm seeing Beauty and the Beast in 3D tomorrow!
I don't know how this weekend ended up being so awesome, but I like it.

January 12th

Good evening! I had a marvelous time at my first SSA meeting tonight. Lots of lovely people there.

Other than The Lion King, this weekend is exciting because I get to buy groceries for my room. I am super hungry right now but I have no food.

GUYS ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF TIL I MEET RANDALL MUNROE

January 11th

I just watched a wonderful movie called Secret Smile. It stars David Tennant and Kate Ashland, and it is really impeccably well-written. And it's all on YouTube! So you have no excuse not to watch it. Next on my list of films starring actors from Doctor Who is Christopher and His Kind, which stars Matt Smith, and is also on YouTube! I love technology!

I am so excited for Sunday! I'm seeing The Lion King in Minneapolis!

January 10th

Kate is a sleepy panda today.

I'll give you a full report on my classes tomorrow, but I'm honestly just really tired right now.

My poor sleep schedule!

January 9th

Happy birthday, Severus Snape!

Classes went well today! German was super intimidating, but I think overall it was fine. Information Technology seems like it will be pretty easy, plus one of our assignments is to have a blog. I'd better get an A+ on that.

I got a $20 Amazon gift card for taking surveys with Harris Poll...so I bought Pokémon HeartGold. I am way too excited about this.

TFiOS is almost here! I can't wait to get my copy! I hope it has a Hanklerfish!

Sunday, January 8, 2012

January 8th

Well, I start class tomorrow. At least my first class isn't until 10:00. That's one thing to look forward to.

It honestly feels a bit weird to be back in my dorm. It's like I never left, really. Everything is exactly the same here. It's static. Which is sort of creepy.

Aaaand here's my Dalek friend! He has bubble bath inside of him!

Saturday, January 7, 2012

January 7th

Good evening! Sorry about the pitiful post yesterday. I think the fact that I start class on Monday is already making me tired. I'm mostly excited to start classes again, although I am taking two classes that might be a bit challenging, and one that I'm required to take for which the professor is apparently dreadful, so I'm a bit apprehensive as well.

I'm afraid I haven't got any pictures of my Dalek yet. I spent the day cleaning and doing laundry and I just never got around to it. Soon though!

I hope I meet some cool people this semester. Being a transfer student is weird, let me tell you. And last semester, my classes were, in terms of classmates, somewhat disappointing. I hope that's not characteristic of my school, but I fear it might be. We'll see.

January 6th

Happy half-birthday to me!

My friend just got back from England and for Chistmas he brought me back...a Dalek! With bubble bath inside! (Daleks are from Doctor Who, which is from England.)

I'm really tired, so I'm afraid this is all I can provide today. Pictures of my Dalek tomorrow!

January 5th

Happy half-birthday to my mom! (Mine's tomorrow!)

As per every optometrist visit, I had my eyes dilated today. Well, they've been dry ever since. I've never had this problem before. Also, it turns out my left eye has gotten even more blind (though not my right eye) and the new prescription number is...-10.25! If you all are familiar with prescriptions, you know how bad that it. (My right eye is a -8.50.) My vision is literally like 20/800 or something.

I have all sorts of things going on tomorrow, so I'm going to retire to my bedchamber early tonight. Sleep well, readers!

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

January 4th

I have to get up at 7:15 tomorrow morning for an optometrist appointment. Seriously, if I'm gonna get up that early, I should be getting paid or something. I am going to ask for those contacts that you wear for a month without taking out though, because I do that already with my current contacts, except they are meant to be left in that long. I've just been doing it since like sophomore year of high school, so it's kind of a habit now.

Whenever someone says they have to get into the habit of doing something, I imagine them having to put on a nun's habit. Or like if they say they have a bad habit, I just imagine a really unfashionable or uncomfortable nun habit.

So I've listened to this song like 50 times in the past 24 hours. ("Now We Are Free" - sung by Lisa Gerrard) It is just absolutely beautiful and perfect. Have a listen.

January 3rd

If it's not one thing, it's another. My headache has finally gone, but it left in its place...lower back pain! Hooray! I suppose I prefer it to the headache, but really, I'd just like to be comfortable.

When I first shaved my head, I had this idea that I was going to take pictures every week and document my hair growth and all that...yeah, that didn't happen. Whoops. Anyway, I'm super pleased with my hair right now, although texturally it feels different. We'll have to see if that remains the case as it gets longer.

My silly helix piercing, I believe, is the cause of all my pains recently. I think I must be sleeping in a weird way to accommodate it.

Or maybe I just need to exercise more, or see a chiropractor. It's hard to be sure.

January 2nd

I saw a gif of Ariel on my Tumblr dashboard today, and I've been singing Part of Your World ever since.

I have had an absolutely massive headache for the better part of the past 18 hours. I stayed up watching the new Sherlock episode, and I didn't realize that it was an hour and a half long so I ended up in this awkward watching position for far too long, then slept wrong, and now my neck and back are all messed up. This just reaffirms my belief that I ever come into a large sum of money, I will go to a masseuse like four times a week for the rest of my life. Massages are so glorious.

Speaking of which, I am sorely tempted to get a manicure. I don't have anything coming up that would require me to have nice nails, I just want to go somewhere and make them look pretty.

More cosmetic woes: My skin is so ridiculous in every sense. Facially, nothing works to clear my skin except the thing to which I'm allergic (benzoyl peroxide). Salicylic acid, the other popular facial cleanser, is like a placebo. I've also tried tea tree oil recently, and it's not doing anything. So if anyone has any tips...tell me! Another skin problem: scarring. I scar so incredibly easy that if I get a mosquito bite, for example, I'll have a mark there for several months after. And actual blood-drawing injuries? Scars up the wazoo, as my mom would say.

A personal appearance positive: I love having short hair. It dries so quickly! And now that it's like a normal pixie length of sorts, it actually looks all right, too! I'm just worried that it's going to look really weird as it grows out.

January 1st

Happy 2012, everyone! As you may notice, the blog has gotten a little facelift! I'm not sure just yet if I'll keep it like this, but I did at least need to change the header. Also, I know that since I changed the URL, the blog may not be showing up in your Reader if you have a Google account. Sorry about that! I hope you've found it anyway!

I know that last year on January 1st, I had a list of 11 resolutions because it was 2011. Well, I'm not going to have 12 resolutions this year. I actually haven't really made any resolutions, other than to be successful at school and just have a good year. But I think that's reasonable, don't you? And if I come up with more, I'll just do my best to execute them. There's no reason I can't make resolutions at a different time of the year.

So here's to 2012 - another glorious year of daily blogging and hopefully lots of other wonderful things, too!
