I figured out why I was so baffled by Lys du Désert yesterday. It doesn't smell like lilies or the desert. It smells like Misia by Chanel, albeit with a different drydown. None of the notes are the same though, which is confusing. I'm not sure why they smell the same on me. I do like Misia better though, and the two are comparable in price so it's not like I found a cheap dupe. (Lolita Lempicka's L'eau en Blanc is the closest to an inexpensive dupe that I've found.) I also posted on the Fragrantica forums yesterday that I was looking to try out some more lily-based scents since I really like L'artisan's Passage d'Enfer and Guerlain's Lys Soleia, and someone offered to send me some samples from when she was testing out lily scents earlier this year! How kind is that? Fragrantica is such an awesome community.
