March 11th

I can't believe it's only Wednesday! This week has felt so long. Probably because I'm attempting to process like...a month's worth of information right now. Learning a new job is hard, especially one with so many little details! But I think I'm slowly getting the hang of things, at least. I don't feel as overwhelmed as I did yesterday, although I still feel like there's so much I don't know. I also have to start answering phones tomorrow, which is intimidating! I'm going to attempt to be somewhat decent though. :)

Perfume of the Day: Feérie Rose des Neiges by Van Cleef & Arpels
Floral, woody, fruity. Notes include rose, lychee, pink pepper, sandalwood, magnolia, tonka bean, and cedar.
I own: 50ml bottle

The thing I appreciate most about this scent is that despite being a flanker of Feérie, it smells entirely different. It's not just a slight adjustment to the notes, it's completely different while still maintaining the fairylike essence of the original. That said, I must admit that I do prefer the original to this. I was very eager to try another Van Cleef & Arpels scent, especially from the Feérie line, and while this is not a bad scent by any means, it just isn't a scent that I'm in love with. Of course, the bottle is beyond gorgeous, and the scent fits its name quite aptly, but the more I've worn this one, the more blasé I've felt about it. It's very fresh, crisp, and really does smell like a sort of wintery rose as the name would suggest. I wanted so badly to find "my" rose perfume since I feel like it's sort of a staple scent, but I don't think this is the one. Again, it's not a bad scent at all. It's quite charming, but on me it just doesn't smell quite right. I never find myself feeling happily enveloped by this scent, instead I feel it sitting on me and projecting from me but not ever really becoming one with me. The drydown, especially before it's completely gone, is actually a really graceful and pleasant floral, but it's just a bit too screechy and too synthetic for me when I'm initially wearing it. Perhaps I'll come back around to it, maybe in different weather or a different mood. But for now this one is just a "like" and not a "love."
