May 31st

I have to wake up at 7:00 tomorrow morning, so I'm going to bed like right now. I really hope I don't get lost trying to find this place. On the bright side, baby birds, here I come! :3

May 30th

Today was less weird than anticipated. I'm mostly just tired from all the walking around the mall I did. I got to see some lovely cephalopods, which was nice! I am in love with tiny cuttlefish.

May 29th

Tomorrow is going to weird and I will have stories. I will update you tomorrow night.

I'm so excited to start volunteering! I have orientation this Saturday!

...I'm also extremely excited for Game of Thrones, despite the carnage.

May 28th

I went to Applebee's with my dad tonight, and decided to try some of their flavored frozen lemonade. I ordered the mango one, assuming it would be, like, mango flavored lemonade...but it was in fact 2/3 frozen lemonade, 1/3 mango-flavored syrup. And the syrup didn't mix in with the lemonade despite all my efforts. It just settled to the bottom. So I had to drink from the top and not use my straw, lest I drink pure syrup. Yikes.

May 27th

I got accepted to work as a volunteer at the Wildlife Rehab Center of Minnesota! Yay! I get to work in the avian nursery and feed baby birds!

On the flip side, work was exhausting for no apparent reason. My tiredness levels are high.

May 26th

eBay has free listings available this weekend. I'm listing my 3DS. Dammit, I will sell this thing.

Fingers crossed that I get to work tomorrow- it's Memorial Day so we get paid time and a half!

Work was weird today.

May 25th

I'm feeling a bit better today! I got to chat with Eoin and sleep in, which was lovely. I'm back at work tomorrow though!

Grey's Anatomy had the best plot twist last night and I was literally yelling at the computer and freaking out. That is what I call quality writing. A+, Grey's Anatomy. A+.

Game of Thrones isn't airing again until June 2nd and I don't know what to do about that. I feel lost without it. What am I going to do when this season ends?

May 24th

My sister never learns. I am going to punch a wall.

Caroline: "Where are you in Grey's Anatomy?"
Kate: "Same place I was the last time you asked."
Caroline: "I can't remember where you said you were. Is [character] dead?"
Kate: *rage*

HOW
IS
IT
SO
HARD
NOT
TO
SPOIL
CHARACTER
DEATHS

If you accidentally slip up on a minor plot detail, I can forgive you. But not for this. Especially after repeatedly saying, "I don't want to talk to you about Grey's Anatomy because I'm worried you'll spoil it for me."

Fuck that.

May 23rd

Still sick. I think it's a cold, but I can never tell. Neither can WebMD though, so it's okay.

Today I'm going to share with you the unanimous favorite song from the new floor playlist at Gilly. If you don't think this song is catchy as hell, you're wrong.

May 22nd

I'm sick. Or possibly have horrendous allergy symptoms. But I think it's a nasty cold. Stuffy/runny nose, sore throat, achy ears, achy skin...not fun. Work tomorrow won't be fun, I can already tell. Plus, last time I had a cold like this it ended up turning into that 24 hour flu thing and I got super sick and couldn't work for a week and I was so dehydrated and messed up..ugh. No thank you. I didn't even get to Skype with Eoin today because I couldn't talk for the first part of the day because my throat hurt so badly. It's a little bit better now, though.

May 21st

I know I'm tired because I typed the date in this portion of the page...after typing it into the title box. Work was exceptionally slow and my brain is fuzzy. It was/is rainy. The new floor playlist at work is much better than the last one though, thank goodness.

May 20th

Poor Ellie is hiding under my bed because she's scared of the thunderstorm.

I miss when Sammy used to sleep under my bed every night. She stopped doing that after I bunny-sat Forrest that one time. I also just miss Sammy in general. She was such a sweetheart.

Work was utterly exhausting today. My back hurts and I'm tired. On the bright side, Game of Thrones was excellent last night.

May 19th

Lexa has informed me that tonight's Game of Thrones episode is good. I am very excited.

Story time:
At work today, our bulletin board informed me that we would get a new associate discount starting May 18th. My immediate reaction was, "Oh wow, that's next Saturday, that's really soon!" ...I thought today was the 12th. It's the 19th. I run a daily blog. I should know better.

Anyway, I used said discount to buy a very comfy sleep shirt, which I am wearing right at this very moment. It's intentionally really oversized and long and baggy and it is so soft.

May 18th

I have a long week of work ahead of me. I am coping by watching Grey's Anatomy. I think I've watched six episodes already today, and I intend to watch two more. But I'm going to sleep early again because I'm covering someone's shift and it starts early in the day. I've got all regular shifts this week, no call-ins. I apologize in advance if entries are short this week, but I have a feeling I'm going to be tired. A lot.

My dad got these cookies called Pitter Patters, which were really good. I had the last two today and I kept thinking of how their name reminded me of the song Pitter Pat by Erin McCarley, and then that song was stuck in my head for a good while earlier today. ...It also just played in the episode of Grey's Anatomy that I watched. How weird is that? It wasn't even a super popular song. I don't remember how I first heard it. What an interesting cosmic coincidence, eh?

May 17th

I had a nightmare last night. It was completely because of Grey's Anatomy. And the surgeons from Grey's Anatomy were in the dream.

There was a man on whom we were operating because he had sustained an injury to his stomach and his organs were now falling out of a hole in his abdomen. So we decided to roll him over to access the organs from the back and pull them in through that incision. And when we cut him open from the back, he had all this fat covering everything except the fat was grey and looked like brain matter and it was really creepy and disgusting. He ended up on his back again, and then his family broke into the surgical room and his little son saw that his organs were all hanging out. The son touched on of the organs and it, like, recoiled back into the dad (like when you touch a centipede) and that force of that caused all the mans organs to literally burst and all come out of him at once. It was awful.

I don't know when I'm going to wear grey leggings, but dammit, I bought some anyway. They are cute and flattering and they were cheap.

I hate when the fitted sheet keeps slipping off at the corners.

I literally spent one hour of my day tightening bra straps. My job is weird and fantastic.

May 15th

C'mere, Anfo. You're so cute.

This has been a weird week.

I need to not stay up all night watching Grey's Anatomy. Don't let me do that, you guys. I'm counting on you.

May 14th

It is so hot here. It's like we skipped Spring; we just went straight from Winter to Summer. I don't like it. I'm sweaty and unhappy.

I have started season four of Grey's Anatomy. It's starting off pretty differently than the first three seasons, so I'm a little apprehensive, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. We'll see how it goes.

No work tomorrow! Whee!

Monday, May 13, 2013

May 13th

Work was so not fun today. Actually it was fine until I had to steam. Shipment and pulling ~250 undies for prep is no biggie. Steaming...is the bane of my existence. Now I'm tired and my back hurts. I might take a nap.

Sunday, May 12, 2013

May 12th

I'm drinking Joia right now, which is this bizarre all natural soda that has really bizarre flavors. The one I got is pineapple coconut nutmeg. It's actually pretty good though.

I'm so excited to watch Game of Thrones. There will be a bear. (And a maiden fair.)

I finally have a busy work schedule! Hooray!

Saturday, May 11, 2013

May 11th

Today is a sleepy day. I'm going to take a nap now. G'night Blogger.

I feel ready. That's really all I can and want to say. I am ready.

May 9th

You know when fans of something or someone have names for themselves? Like Potterheads and Cumberbitches? I wonder what my fans would be called. I am now accepting suggestions. I think Applebites sounds kinda cute.

-aggressively stares at mailbox-

Lexa and I may or may not have Skype for like three hours last night. Whoops!

May 8th

Crack open the Sprite and release the hounds!

Lexa and I are Skyping, and it is an absolute joy. We are solving mysteries and discussing Game of Thrones book deviations.

i am also eating cinnamon rolls.

May 7th

Hurry up, free stuff from Julep. I want you in my life.

My mom's house is balmy and stuffy and sauna-like. It is also causing my eyes to itch like nobody's business.

I'm going to watch Grey's Anatomy in protest.

May 6th

I hate spoilers. I really, really fucking hate them.
I want to be surprised. I don't want to watch a show knowing that a character I like is going to die, because it doesn't allow me to get attached to them correctly, and it makes me view them differently. I don't want to know about who is going to hook up or break up or live or die. I don't want to know anything.

So, for all of you out there who for whatever reason cannot figure out how not to spoil people, here's a quick guide.

  1. Don't speak in past tense. When you say "Bob was my favorite character," it implies that either Bob changes dramatically as a person or that he leaves/dies.
  2. In fact, don't even talk about the characters that are around for you in the show right now. If you want to voice an opinion about a character, voice it based on how you felt about that character at the point of the book/show where the OTHER person is. Is the person in the middle of season two and liking Bob? Tell them how you felt about Bob in season two.
  3. For the love of all that is good, NEVER start a sentence with, "Have you gotten to the part where..." because oh my fucking god, if I haven't gotten to the part where that happens, then you've spoiled it. Instead, try asking like this: "So what's going on with Bob in the show right now?" Then you get your information without giving out plot details.
  4. If someone says that something has just happened for the first time, then don't fucking tell them about the other times it happens, because they DON'T KNOW that it's going to happen again.
  5. Ask "Who are the main characters in the show/book right now?" if you don't know if you can bring up the introduction to a new character. If you ask, "Have you met Joe yet?" then the person will be anticipating meeting Joe instead of being surprised by his arrival.
Sorry for the rant-y post today, but my sister spoiled more things from Grey's Anatomy for me and I am absolutely livid.

Caroline: What's happening in the show right now?
Kate: [Blank] and [blank] just had sex for the first time!
Caroline: Is that the time where [blank] is crying or the time where...
Kate: ...Awesome, thanks for that, now I know that they're going to have sex again even though I thought they weren't. Now I don't get to be surprised when that happens. Thanks.
Caroline: Oh, I don't even remember how many times they have sex!
Kate: AWESOME thank you for telling me EVEN MORE about their relationship after I told you that you spoiled it for me.

Later...

Kate: [Blank] and [blank] are dating right now.
Caroline: Oh, I miss that relationship!
Kate: ...So they break up. Great.
Caroline: You should have known!
Kate: HOW would I have known that? You're in season eight and I'm in season two. I don't know what's going to happen.

The reason I waited for so long to even start watching Grey's Anatomy is because when I asked Caroline to tell me about it, she told me everything about it. Not a plot synopsis, but character names and details and huge plot points. So I didn't even think I should bother, since she'd told me the whole damn thing already. But I decided to watch it anyway after having seen part of an episode and liking it a lot, and I am so, so bitter about knowing the things she told me. Why would you ever do something like that? Why would you want to ruin the surprise for someone else?

I. fucking. hate. spoilers.

PRODUCT REVIEW:
Gillette Venus & Olay Razor in Sugarberry

I've been using Gillette razors for years now. I've tried all different sorts of them, even their mens razors, and have found myself coming back to the Venus Embrace razor again and again. Nothing against their other razors of course, as they are all fantastic, but the Embrace works really well for me. It's got five blades, and I've got a decent amount of leg hair, so it's the best fit for me. However, I heard about the release of a new razor with Olay moisturizers and a seemingly delectable scent (Sugarberry), and was very curious.

The Gillette Venus team had a promoted tweet on Twitter, and I figured I'd respond and tell them how excited I was to try the new Sugarberry scent, just for fun. It's always nice to be able to interact with a brand that's served you well over the years. I ended up actually chatting with them, and it was really, really sweet! I was told I'd receive a surprise in the mail, and it arrived yesterday!

As you can see, I got a really nice note from Meagan, who works at Gillette, as well as the Sugarberry razor! I tried it out today and wanted to share my findings, because you know how much I like reviewing products!

The package includes one razor head (replaceable), one razor handle, and one shower hook. I lost my old shower hook, so I was already excited about having a new one! Right away after opening the package I noticed that the Olay moisture strips really did smell amazing! It's a very sweet berry smell.

Because of the moisture strips, there was no need to use any shaving gel, though that always makes me a bit nervous because I tend to be sort of an aggressive shaver. I was very, very pleased to find that it was a very smooth shave, and I came away unscathed! I did shave with less pressure that usual, so I think my hair with show up again sooner, but that's all right. Better safe than sorry! Overall it was a really nice, easy experience. The handle, just like the other Venus razors, is really easy to grip, which I love. The only complaint I have is that after I got out of the shower, I couldn't smell the Sugarberry scent any more. I wish the smell would have stayed on my legs, but it's not a huge deal and I'm happy with the razor regardless.

Now I just have to see how the moisture strips hold up! That has caused me slight problems in the past, but I think my new shower hook ought to take care of that. Fingers crossed!

A huge thanks to Meagan and the Gillette Venus team for sending me this awesome gift! I should note quickly that I'm not being paid or anything to write this review, I just wanted to share my love of the Venus brand and show off my new razor! Thanks guys!

May 4th

Good evening! I am a very sleepy girl tonight! In fact, I'm probably going to sleep for a bit now. Of course this means I'll inevitably wake up around 3:00 AM hungry and with a bursting bladder, but I'm willing to go through that. I actually had quite pleasant dreams last night, so maybe that'll happen again.

Posts to expect this week: Hair dye review, Venus/Olay Razor review, Grey's Anatomy review

Hooray, it's May! It snowed today! Minnesota is crazy! Yay!

I need to go to bed at a normal time tonight and not stay up until 4:30 AM watching Grey's Anatomy.
