I'm redecorating in CastleVille. It's like the Sims you know, you just need to tidy up your house every once in awhile. I'm also listening to ghetto rap. 50 Cent has the same birthday as me though, so it's cool. We've got a bond, me and 50. (Fitty?)

I have to wake up and take my sister to school in the morning. And then I have to do it again on Friday. Getting up before 7:00 AM is so not my forte.

So. Game of Thrones season finale this Sunday. I am about ready to burst. If you haven't watched the show, you absolutely should. I know the pilot episode of a lot of shows is typically kind of lame, but the pilot and all other episodes are just flawless. Seriously, you'll be hooked. I'm reading the books right now as well, and they're just as good. Oh, and the soundtrack. Oh my goodness. It is absolutely lovely.

I'd like to implement some structure into this blog to make it both easier for me and more interesting and fun for you guys to read. I'm thinking of dedicating each day of the week to something, like Thursdays I would give me opinions about something and Fridays could be movie reviews...something like that. So please leave suggestions for what you'd like to read!

The job hunt is back on tomorrow and I'm excited about it!

The family and I went to an old neighborhood friend's house for a Memorial Day cookout, which was lovely. The mom is so nice and warm and friendly, I just want to hug her and chat with her by the beach.

Good evening, sweet things! It's storming like crazy here right now. Apparently we might have 60 MPH winds. But hey, as long as they don't turn into a cyclone of death, that's cool.

What are you guys doing for Memorial Day? My dad's not really the hotdog-grilling, boat-driving type of celebrator, so we're just going to a family friend's house. I really would like a hotdog though. Why is it that American summer holidays always involve lakes and hotdogs/burgers?

I'm loving this week's PostSecret update. It's always good to see a secret with which you can relate.

So I'm bummed that Sunday and Monday aren't days that are going to be good for doing job stuff. I guess I'll end up doing some online applications. I can't wait to have a job. I'm actually surprisingly fond of working, and I loved my old job. It's too bad I had to move away...haha.

I'm getting my hair cut on Friday! Hooray! It's gotten so long and poofy.

My mom just let out an exasperated sigh because I'm blogging instead of pulling up the next Game of Thrones episode. Sigh...moms.

I'm tired. I want to watch Game of Thrones. (My mom and I watched another two episodes tonight. She's hooked. Yay!)

I get to play with a puppy on Friday. I am overjoyed.

I got my mom into Game of Thrones! Hooray! I love having someone with whom to watch it...plus she already shares my hatred for Viserys, and after only one episode! Yay, mom!

Apparently I'm watching Sister Wives now. I don't really care about it at all, but Caroline's watching and she's not one to change the channel mid-show.

I'm trying to do that thing where you don't beat around the bush and just tell people what's on your mind. It's surprisingly hard, though. You'd think telling a currently minor player in your life story some things wouldn't be a big deal because if they exited your life, it wouldn't be a huge deal...but telling people things is hard.

My sister is getting confirmed tomorrow morning. I got confirmed when I was her age as well...now look at me. Whoops.

May 18th

I had a super fun interview tonight. I know that sounds really contradictory, but it actually was really good. I'm not going to name any of the places I've applied to or interviewed at just yet, but I'll just say that this particular place is really laid back and fun so I hope I get offered a job there.

My room is approximately 100 degrees Fahrenheit...ugh.

May 17th

I am so ready to have a job. I loved my job at Gustavus and I'm just hoping I'll love whatever job I get this summer, though I'm sure I will. I think I'm pretty well-suited to working, especially with people. I just love interacting with everyone...connectedness is a wondrous thing, even if only for a brief moment.

Sorry the blogs have been so short recently, but I'm just feeling a bit stressed and slightly uninspired, though I'm sure it will pass. Besides, I've just passed my 850th consecutive entry which means I ought to start thinking about the big 900! And then 1000! I honestly do want to throw a party for that. I doubt more than maybe...two people would want to come, but it would still be fun and silly.

I had a day filled with wild animals. I took my dog out for a walk in our yard and a baby bird came out form under a bush. There were some feathers and bones nearby so I think the baby bird's mom got eaten, which is really sad. Then four deer showed up in the backyard, so I brought my dog inside and went back out to see the deer. I laid on the ground and tried to army crawl to one of them, but she started snorting and stomping her feet, so I was apparently still threatening her. Whoops. I also went back and watched the baby bird chirp with its siblings, which was adorable.
And then later there was a cat walking around the backyard, which was bizarre. I hope it didn't eat the birds.

Happy Mothers Day, mom. I hope you like your African violet and your book. You have been the most supportive person in my life from day one, and I appreciate that to no end. I love you more than words can say.

Avatar was on TV tonight. It's hard to watch that movie with commercial breaks though...it sort of takes you out of its reality. Also my sister kept wanting to watch Degrassi, so there was a lot of channel flipping.

I saw a gif on Tumblr and realized that "I see you" isn't an Avatar exclusive thing. It's a big deal in Avatar of course, but it's also something Jack says to Rose when they first speak. James Cameron has a thing for seeing, it seems.

I kept saying I didn't want a Pinterest, but I finally see the appeal. It's like an organized Tumblr. It's categorized. That's nice.

...My two biggest pin boards are Ladies I Love and Men I Fancy. What is my life, really? Sigh.

Turns out trying on bikinis "just for fun" is in fact incredibly disheartening...like, I know I'm not fit but my goodness, do they design bikinis to be unflattering? Like, I look okay in my undergarments. Hmm. Well Target, you're not getting my money...not for swimsuits, anyway. You'll get all my other money though.

Quick nap then off to work on job applications. Summer sleep schedule...pshaw.

I picked up some more job applications today. I really hope I can get some work soon. I know I'd do well, it's just hard getting hired! Ahh!

Anyway, I'm quite tired and hungry at the moment. Monday nights, man...they're so lame. I wanna hang out with people, but everyone is still in school!

May 6th

Welp, I'm applying for a job tomorrow. Possibly the first of many applications, but I'm hoping I get this one.

I'm gonna go downstairs and see if there's a good movie on TV. If there is, then I will absolutely believe that my cable provider is stalking me.

It's like my cable provider knows I have access to cable again. Literally three of my all-time favorite movies have been on in the past 24 hours. Last night I think I mentioned that I watch V for Vendetta (12 Angry Men was also on, but at the same time and I was in the mood for some Natalie Portman), and then tonight Dead Poets Society was on. DPS is by far one of the most beautiful films ever made - not beautiful in terms of scenery or costumes, but in its storytelling, its message, and its characters. It is inspirational, tragic and captivating. Robin Williams, who is typically this absurd comedy actor, plays an English teacher and an all-boys boarding school, and has an unconventional approach to teaching, specifically poetry. He is so remarkable in the film, as are the students, especially Robert Sean Leonard. (Robert now plays Wilson on House.) Every single one of you should watch it, because it's impossible not to like at least one thing about it.

May 4th

Everything is happening today! I wrote a paper, made a PowerPoint, presented said PowerPoint (and got 30/30 on the presentation), packed up and went home for the summer, got a car (!!!), got a new phone (for free!), and got interview clothes. My dad completely surprised me with the car, and I still cant really believe it. It's a dark gray 2009 Hyundai Elantra and it is gorgeous! And Apple replaced my phone for free and the new one works perfectly. Plus there's no crack in the screen! To top it all off, V for Vendetta is on TV now, which is awesome. I'm gonna read Game of Thrones and sleep in until noon tomorrow. Yay.

May 3rd

It's my last night in this room. I just realized that.
I go home for summer break tomorrow. Holy shit. Where did this semester go? I still feel super stressed though because I have a presentation to do tomorrow and I'm not ready and I'd really like to sleep now but I know I need to work some more. This is one of those nights where I really wish caffeine worked for me.

May 2nd

Ben is watching my type this and it's extremely distracting.

So I had one final at 7:30 AM and one at 6:30 PM. What sort of teacher does that? I only have my theatre final tomorrow though, so that's nice. I still sort of have to learn my lines...whoops. I'm on my way to Sarah's house to get my "costume" though...it's really hard to find a blue dress that doesn't cost more money than I own. Why did we decide it was a good idea for us to be princesses?

I am hungry and thirsty and eagerly anticipating a tortilla.

May 1st

Well, tonight was eventful. I got out of the shower and went to look at Twitter and saw that there was a freaking tornado in my city. So of course I thought I was going to vomit, since I live on the 6th floor and assumed I'd missed the sirens because I'd been in the shower and was no inevitably doomed. I looked outside and saw that the dark scary clouds were still a wee bit away and made the executive decision that the library basement was much safer than the dorm basement. I gathered the essentials (laptop, its charger, my wallet, a snack and water) and went outside during a goddamn tornado warning in order to get to the library, which is about two blocks from my place. There was a group of people sitting outside the library watching the sky, which it this point looked massively ominous, but I thought that was stupid so I went inside and to the basement.

Now, I never looked back at my dorm building when I was outside, and I don't know what was happening while I was in my room, but sometime between when I was in the shower and when I got to the library basement, this happened:

That's a funnel cloud above my building. An almost-tornado. Right there where I live.
I'm so glad I didn't see it live because I would have had an absolute mental breakdown. Tornadoes scare me so badly. So of course now I'm scared to go sleep in case the sirens go off again and I sleep through them. This is too much stress for finals week.
