This month sure flew right by me. I can't believe tomorrow is June. June means summer! I like summer!
Problem of the day: I own no nail polish remover.
I'm working on my first piece for the BSC Kids website right now. :) I love having something to write in my free time...I mean, I always like having something to write, I suppose. Writing and I should get married.

May 30th
I need to figure out how to get these to stop posting to Facebook - there are too many stupid little ones now.
For real, I'm going to bed now. Summer break makes my schedule weird.

I curled my hair today! I've never had the patience to do that before. Hooray for me.
Arthur Darvill can sing, too. That man is growing on me.
Dear World: I want to go to London. That is all.

May 28th - Maybe no more titles
I think I may start titling my entries with just the date, since I never have any clever titles anymore.
So how about that new episode of Doctor Who from today? I'll be honest, I did a lot of swearing and hitting my desk. The last two minutes were me pounding my fist on my desk yelling "WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT" over and over again.

May 27th - Gilly Hicks
...is my favorite store. The ambience is absolutely perfect, and it smells awesome, and there's so much underwear! I love underwear. They also have a new bra called Kate...so I bought one. I actually really like it.
I also enjoy H&M. A lot.
I got a Blizzard at Dairy Queen tonight for the first time in years. I ate about a third (it was a small) and I feel so beyond full right now. It was delicious though. (It was German Chocolate Brownie.)

Having long nails confuses me. They get in my way.
Jon Stewart is growing on me. I like having summer to watch new shows.
My eyes are so weird lately.

May 25th - Bagpipes
I bought a Celtic bagpipe CD from a thrift store a few days ago. I am currently enjoying listening to it.
I am currently not enjoying cleaning my room. Also, I've had crazy back pain since coming home. So that's annoying.
Why are bagpipes so awesome? It could be that I'm partly Scottish and partly Irish, and my genes just love the sound of bagpipes. Yeah, that's probably it.

May 24th - Splurging
I have a little bit of a shopping hangover right now. It's not my fault I've been living in a town with no stores for nine months! (Well, yes it is, but still.) I kind of exploded at Target today...and bought some stuff...yeah. I'm pretty pleased though.
I also think my cornea is torn. It feels like there's something in my eye all the time and it's extremely irritating.
Lipstick is fun.

May 23rd - Whaaaargarbl
My left eye is currently not accepting its contact lens and it is very frustrating. I do not enjoy wearing my glasses. The lenses are always dirty five seconds after I clean them and then I can't see anything.
Maybe I'll just take a nap.
Even my computer is being bothersome.

May 21st - Home sweet home
I'm back at home! I've been enjoying my bed, and the TV, and the food. It has been wonderful.
So, the Rapture was pretty fun, eh?
Freaking Doctor Who and your making me wait two weeks for the next episode.

May 20th - Tonight!
Macho Man Randy Savage was a symbol of Anfo Stewart, and I feel lost without his guidance.
(Sorry new readers, that probably doesn't mean much to you.)
It's my last night at Gustavus tonight! What do I do? I think that since I didn't end up watching Mulan yesterday, I might do that tonight. Mulan is always relevant.

May 19th - The Big 500

Do you like my obnoxious glitter text? I hope so. I think of all things, 500 consecutive blog posts is worth glitter text. It's like I'm bringing Myspace to Blogger.
Anyway, HOORAY 500 CONSECUTIVE BLOG POSTS YAY FOR KATE.
Thank you to everyone who has shown support, curiosity or even the tiniest iota of interest in the blog. All of it is so greatly appreciated and I can't express my gratitude enough! Thank you for bearing with me when my Mulan song alarm goes off at 10:00 every night, or when I dash out of the room to write an entry, or when I won't shut up about how my Hunger Games cast list post has 1.5k views alone.
Regular daily blog stuff:
I watched Winnie the Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin last night. I absolutely adore that movie and it's one of my favorites of all time. I can't wait for the new Winnie the Pooh movie this year! Oh, and I really want to watch Mulan right now.

May 16th - Almost 500
I'm almost at 500 total entries, you guys. Wow. That's a lot of entries. (Albeit some are certainly better than others.) I want to throw myself a party now, with confetti and cake and such. Who's with me?
It's my last week of class too, so that's cause for celebration. And fear, because oh my gosh finals start soon and finals are very scary.
Oh, and it's my last week working at Guslink too, which is sad. I love my job, and I don't wanna leave! It's so fun.

May 15th - This week
This week is my final week of class before finals, so don't expect any super long entries - I've got a lot of stuff to do!
I did (hopefully) my last load of laundry here before summer! Finally! As I've mentioned, I hate doing laundry here.
The weather was so nice today, but apparently it's supposed to rain a lot this week. I do not approve.

May 14th - Happy Saturday!
All right, who else thinks tonight's episode of Doctor Who was brilliant? Yeah, I thought so too. And next week's looks scary as Hell...and Lady Kavorian is going to be in it...
I've got a good theory about the "The only water in the forest is the river" line....since, you know, rivers and ponds are both waters...but River Song is more important than Amy Pond...yeah.
Anyway, The Doctor/TARDIS = best couple ever.

May 11th - Hey, Hunger Games cast
The cast for The Hunger Games movie is just about complete, and I am extremely pleased. It's a great blend of a well-known actors and new actors and I think it will be really excellent.
Speaking of big movies, it's really getting down to the end regarding Deathly Hallows pt. 2. Two months left, you guys! I'm not very happy about all the changes that have apparently been made from the book to the movie (Snape's death, a majority of the battle at Hogwarts, etc.) but I think it will be epic in its own way, even though it deviates from the book.
Also, I'm almost done with school! I've got about two weeks left and then I finally get to go home for the summer. I am very excited for this year to be done, and I think this summer will be a lot of fun.

May 10th - Ouch
I'm all discombobulated. (Which, by the way, is a great word.) I hyperextended my elbow, my shoulder is all out of whack and keeps making weird noises, and my lower back hurts. I need a chiropractor or something.
It is very warm here. Apparently it was over 90 degrees earlier today, and right now it's still very pleasant - albeit humid - and it feels like Florida. Can I go back to Harry Potter World?
Hypocrites are obnoxious.

Hi friends!
I have a Tumblr. Do you have a Tumblr? I want to follow you.
I like Spring weather.
I do not, however, like not knowing what to blog about. Any suggestions?

May 7th - Phooey
My phone died and I can't find the cable to connect it to my computer. I'm also not feeling well. I can't find my contacts, either. Tonight is kind of a hot mess.
I'm sure the new Doctor Who is on Sidereel though. I certainly hope so.
And now I'm going to try and track down some oatmeal.

May 6th - Things I love
I just wanted to make a big compilation of things that I love. You know how when you really want to talk to someone about something, but you can't find any common ground? That's lame. So here's what I love. This is basically a list of things about which I can talk with a good knowledge, although some I've been invested in for much longer and therefore have a greater knowledge. Anyway.
Harry Potter | The Hunger Games | Disney Movies | House M.D. | Doctor Who | The Vlogbrothers | iCarly | Pirates of the Caribbean | Pokémon | The Amazing Race | Futurama | Paper Mario
I want to make another list like this in six months or so and see what's different.
Oh, and THIS MAN.

May 5th - Allons-y!
Hi guys. Guess what? Doctor Who. That's what. It is my favorite show right now. Words cannot describe how I feel about it. It's like the most brilliant mix of every genre ever. Sci-fi, horror, action, comedy, romance...I can't get enough. Also, I don't cry often. I cried once between April 2010 and April 2011. Then Doctor Who comes into my life, and I cry twice in one night. Over a TV show! What does that say about Doctor Who? That it's the best show ever. Obviously. Seriously, I cried during the episode for like 10-15 minutes straight. Then after the episode was over I decided to listen to Abigail's Song from the Christmas Carol episode and I cried again just thinking about the episode! I have never cried about something that has already happened, just things that are currently happening. So, yeah...Doctor Who. Amazing. Indescribable. Perfection.

May 4th - Star Wars Day!
May the 4th be with you.
I'm about halfway through watching Starship, and it's definitely growing on me. It started off a little slow, but now I'm in invested in what happens!
I am a crossword champion.
And a Pokémon champion.

May 3rd - Asdfgh
I'm too tired to write a good entry today. Don't be mad at me. I've got good ones planned, remember? Also, I think I'll do a review of Starship when I finish watching it. My review of AVPS was pretty well-liked, so this ought to be too...maybe. You guys still like me, right? Right?
Sister Helen Prejean (who wrote Dead Man Walking) is coming to our school tomorrow to speak. My 9:00 AM class is cancelled so we can see her. Best. Day. Ever.

May 2nd - Shit Happens
[This will also be a guest post on Jon's blog later this month, so look for that!]
Shit happens.
Sometimes it's your fault, and sometimes the world's just hating on you. Either way, it can be rough when you don't know what to do after aforementioned shit occurs.
I'm no more qualified to tell you about the shit going on in your life than the next guy, and really, the shit in my life is only rabbit turds compared to a lot of other people's shit. Regardless, I still have an opinion on life's shit and I'd like to tell you how I deal with it.
Here's a nifty plan for you.
Grieve. Don't feel like you need to suck it up, or like it's not a big deal. Even if it's not earth-shattering, it feels that way to you. So let it out - cry, scream, stay in your room and sulk, do whatever it is you need to do to get those emotions out.
Distract Yourself. When you have finished your initial grieving, distract yourself. There's nothing worse than having nothing to do when you're sad, because all you think about it how sad you are, and how things could be better, and all the "what if" questions. This tends to make things worse, so get your mind off your problems for a while. Read a book, spend time with friends, or watch a movie. Anything that helps you think about something else.
Realize. One of the hardest things to face is that sometimes you can't change a situation. When shit like losing your job or your girlfriend happens, a lot of the time you have to realize that it's going to stay like that. You can spend all your time daydreaming about what life might be like if you still had a job or a girlfriend, but at the end of the day, there's nothing you can do. (However, in the event that it is plausible - and don't try and fool yourself about what's plausible - to fix your problems, by all means, fix them!)
Wait. Don't expect to "get over" something awful right away. It takes time. It's an old cliché, but time really does help to heal wounds. In time, you'll notice that things are all right again, and you're becoming happy. This is when the biggest step comes.
Move On. Moving on does not mean forgetting what happened didn't happen, or belittling its importance. It means that you are now free to live without it as a constant weight on your shoulders. It might take a couple tries, but one day you'll wake up and realize that you are a person who is doing just fine despite the shit that happened. Hell, maybe you're even doing better than before.
I hope that this has helped you to deal with your shit, whether it is a mere rabbit turd or a massive elephant poop.
Remember this quote: "Everything is okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."

May 1st - BIG EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT
Okay, so you guys may or may not find this is exciting as I do, or even really care for that matter, but I have an announcement! About my life! My future!
For quite awhile I've been interested in becoming a speech therapist. I'd love to work with kids for a living, but I don't want to be a teacher. I love helping people, but I don't want to be a psychologist. This is a really ideal job for me, and speech pathology is really interesting. But here's the catch - Gustavus doesn't offer a degree in speech pathology, communication disorders, or anything similar. I mean, there's a communication studies major, but it's not specific enough for me to be able to successfully go to grad school after graduation and do well there.
So...I am transferring schools. I don't know where I'm going yet, but I've started applying to several schools and I'm super excited. They all have really specific speech pathology/communication disorders degrees, and they're also a lot less expensive than Gustavus, which is a nice bonus. Not that I don't think Gustavus is worth what tuition is, it's just that it is expensive, whereas state schools are a lot cheaper.
Anyway, the schools I have applied to are...
Minnesota State University - Mankato
Minnesota State University - Moorhead
St. Cloud State University
Of course I have to see where I get accepted first, but Mankato is my first choice. Their program looks amazing, and I'd get to live like 20 minutes away from Gustavus!
So that's where I am right now. We'll just have to wait and see what the future holds! Anchors aweigh!
