March 31st - You can comment!

Because some people have been telling me they want to comment on the blog but don't have an account here, I've enabled comments from everyone! Hooray! So now if you ever see a post on which you'd like to comment, please do! I love to get feedback. I also want to know who reads my blog! I get about 20-50 unique page views per day, and I'm always curious as to who the people checking me out happen to be. On that note, thanks for reading! I am always appreciative towards all the people who take a minute or two out of their day to read my little blog. So thank you!

March 30th - Horse shampoo and weddings

I'm not sure if I ever said this on the blog here, but I bought some Mane 'n Tale shampoo and conditioner recently.I was messing around on Amazon and it popped up in that section that says like, "People who bought this product also bought..." I'd heard a few people say here and there that they use or have used Mane 'n Tale, and I had this understanding that it was horse shampoo, but since I am currently growing my hair out and it is becoming unruly, I decided to take the plunge and seem if I could tame my mane. I have since come to the conclusion that Mane 'n Tale is amazing. This probably sounds like I'm a paid spokesperson or something, but I promise I'm not! My hair is actually shinier and easier to manage than ever before. If you have freaky hair, I would definitely recommend it.

Today, I spent four or five hours watching My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. Conclusion: I want to get married. I want to get a fabulous, gorgeous dress and do all the planning and all the things that go with getting married! I mean sure, I have to get a fiancee first...which means getting a boyfriend...but no matter! I want to get married! Preferably on a yacht. Nautical themed wedding = my future wedding. Just so you know.

March 29th - Slow

Hi there. I am at my mom's house right now. I am not usually at my mom's house, and have not used my computer at my mom's house in many months. It turns out the internet here is extremely slow. I am saddened by this.

Sorry for the pathetic entry yesterday, but apparently having a cold makes one very so sleepy. So sleepy that one can fall asleep with the Suite Life of Zack and Cody movie playing in the background. That's right, I was so tired I couldn't even get up to turn off a horrendously annoying Disney Channel movie.

Plans for today: Learn the Pokémon theme song on the piano.

March 28th - Sleepytime

Sorry for the lame entry, but this cold is making me very tired and I need to go to bed! Expect a better post tomorrow!

March 27th - The joy of having a cold

I have a cold. I'm super congested and my nose is runny. I'm tired. I can't taste food. I am not enjoying myself. I am also cleaning my room and doing laundry, so that adds to the lack of fun. (Can you add to the lack of something? That sounds paradoxical or counterintuitive or something.)

In more pleasant news, I love hanging out with my dog! She is the sweetest puppy I've ever had. (And the only.) Her name is Darcy and I think she's like...six years old. And tonight I'm going to my mom's house, which means I get to see my kitties! I haven't seen them since December! The younger one, Ellie, is also something like six years old. Sammy is the old one. She's 14. We've had her for 11 years now.

Picture time!

Darcy! She's a beagle/basset mix.

The kitties! Ellie is the one in front and Sammy is behind her.

March 26th - Boy howdy

Sorry about the pathetically short post yesterday. I was very, very tired and wanted to go back to sleep very, very badly. Going to bed early is nice though, because then you wake up early and it's all bright and sunny and pretty. Oh how I love being at home in my own room, with a shower I only share with my sister and a closet where all of my clothes actually fit!

Speaking of clothes, I went shopping for the first time in many months today! I went to the Mall of America, so you know it was serious business. I got a raincoat that I'm really excited about, as well as some new Spring-y clothes. And new shoes! I sure love getting new shoes.

My nose has become very stuffy over the past few hours. I hope I'm not getting a cold! (Knock on wood!)

March 25th - Spring Break!

I just woke up to write this, and now I'm going back to sleep. Happy Spring Break, y'all.

March 24th - One more day...

I can do it. I can do it. I can manage one more day of school. I'm listening to Enya and everything is going to be okay.

I can't wait to sleep in. In my own bed. And see my puppy. And kitties. And family.

Right, I'm going to keep listening to Enya now.

March 23rd - One year until...

It's one year until The Hunger Games movie! I can't wait to hear more casting news. I'm already super stoked about Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

It's almost Spring Break. Like really. It's close now.

I'm munching on Reese's peanut butter cups right now. Methinks I'll be headed to the gym tomorrow.

I think I'm going to take a break from homework and play Fruit Ninja.

Here's something to make you smile.

March 22nd - Hi, I'm bored

I just walked back from work it the freezing rain. Not the most fun thing I've ever done. I need to buy some rain boots! And maybe a raincoat while I'm at it. Work was fun though, so that's nice. I love talking to friendly people!

Tim Curry had a cameo in my dream last night, as did (Captain) Jack Sparrow. I had quite interesting dreams last night actually, though I don't remember them too much anymore. Just that they were bizarre.

March 21st - The Amazing Race!

Spoilers for this week's episode of The Amazing Race! You've been warned!

Having your two favorite teams come in first and second place in a leg of the Race is a really awesome feeling. Jet and Cord (or as my family calls them, Jetcord) and Gary and Mallory (for whom we have no alternate name) kicked butt this leg and I am beyond happy. Jetcord is the team I want to win, but Gary and Mallory are an extremely close second. Then of course, Bitch Mom and Son (Margie and Luke) were in third and I was sad because I really don't like them. They actually haven't been too bad this Race, but the last season they were on, Margie just angered me all the time. I'm fond on Kisha and Jen as well, so it was nice to see them doing well. I was also psyched about the Globetrotters awesome comeback!
With regards to the other teams, Kent and Vyxsin are annoying and whiny and they need to leave. Zev and Justin aren't my favorites but I tolerate them. Christina and Ron are only okay because I like Christina, but Ron bothers me. And then the cheerleaders, who are gone now of course, weren't my favorites because they were always so negative and mean to the people they met. But they got eliminated, so no more worrying about them.
I had a bit of schadenfreude upon seeing the preview for next week's episode. Luke was faltering and getting all emotional and now I'm hoping they get eliminated. Then Kent and Vyxsin the week after. And then all will be well!

March 20th - Fun fun fun

Drumroll please...It's midterm week! Aaaand I'm stressed out. I have papers to write and films to watch, and lots and lots and lots of studying to do. I'm currently listening to the Epic Soundtrack playlist on Pandora and my ears are quite happy. I guess we'll see how the week goes!

March 19th - 8 AM Workout?

I must absolutely be going crazy. I was up at 8:00 this morning, and I didn't know what to do, so I decided to go work out. Now, if you know me you'll know that I don't like working out, and I definitely don't do it very often. I certainly never go to the gym at 8:00 in the morning. But I did today, for whatever reason. Oh, and when I say work out you should know it was only a mile on the bike and a mile on the elliptical. I'm not that hardcore. Yet. Anyway, I hate that moment after you exercise and you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and you're like, "I just burned like 6000 calories, why am I not skinny?!" That's how I always feel, at least.

March 18th - It's FRIDAY

FUN FUN FUN
GETTIN DOWN ON FRIDAY
/obligatory Rebecca Black reference

Anyway, hello friends! How was your week? Are you excited for the weekend? Tomorrow is Saturday, and then it's Sunday! Fun fun fun! Partyin' partyin'! I would be excited for the weekend, if only I didn't have so much to do! Stupid midterms, they're screwing with my partying schedule.

I'm getting ever so excited for the new Amazing Race and House episodes in the next few days. They both look so good! And the House season finale is SO SOON. What am I going to do with myself when there are no new episodes for a while?

March 17th - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I'm wearing green today! It's my This Star Won't Go Out bracelet. :) You should buy one! Seriously, it's a great cause. That's why I linked you to the page!

Anyway. You know what I love? iCarly. It's one of my favorite TV shows. It's actually hilarious, and I love it, and it is beautiful. That is all.

Oh, and the blog got a bit of a makeover today! It's a lot more simple and easy to read. Also, I love the graphic at the top. The end!

March 16th - Midterms

I have my first midterm tomorrow. I'm also supposed to watch a movie tonight...a movie that is three hours long. There are not enough hours in a day! I also have a paper to write for Monday, some reading in the Bible, and all sorts of other fun, time-consuming things. Oh, and I work tomorrow night! Spring break cannot come soon enough! I need a break from academia!

I wish I could take a nap right now.

Spoilers from this week's House ep:

People need to stop almost dying on this show. It is stressing me out. Last week I was flipping tits about Cuddy, and this week it was House. I was yelling at my computer when he jumped off that balcony. That was probably the most stressed I've ever felt watching House. I can't even imagine what the season finale is going to be like!

March 15th - Um

I feel like earlier today I had something I thought would be really good to write about in here...but know I don't know what it is.

March is halfway done, hooray! I think there are about 75 days until summer break, which is immensely exciting.

What a pathetic entry this is.

March 14th - The plague is upon us!

Everyone is my section (and probably other sections too) is sick. I fell asleep to the soothing sounds of people coughing up their lungs or blowing their noses so hard I thought their brains might come out in the Kleenex. I'm trying not to get sick (knock on wood), but if it comes to that, at least spring break is soon.

Aston has a wonderful classical cover of Adele's Someone Like You up on YouTube, so I thought I'd share it with you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMSr-HTzCwA

I'm in the mood for cornbread.

March 13th - Laundry night, hooray

I know I've posted before about how much I dislike doing laundry here, but let me reiterate: It sucks. I'm currently just sitting around in the basement waiting for a washer to open up - except some idiot put too much soap in one of the washers, so it's kind of exploding. I also got chocolate on my white North Face fleece today, so every moment I don't have a washer is agonizing. Agonizing, I tell you. I am in pain!

March 12th - Childhood memories & Relating to TV characters

I love hearing or seeing things from my childhood. They make me so nostalgic. It's even better when you realize you still know the words to a song you haven't heard in over ten years, or remember the names of all the characters from a show you watched in kindergarten. I've been on a bit of a childhood memory binge lately; I've been watching episodes of Madeline, listening to songs that were on Radio Disney when I was in middle school, all that jazz. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!

Spoilers for this week's episode of House below! You have been warned!

Like I said earlier this week, I really loved Monday's episode of House. But aside from the awesome musical number and dream sequences and whatnot, it actually had some awesome character development. I love character development! Something I've felt about House for a while is that despite the fact that I love all of the characters dearly and find them endlessly fascinating, I can't really relate to any of them. I'm not a drug addict or a single mother, I didn't cheat on my spouse and get a divorce - Hell, I'm not even a doctor, believe it or not. Well this Monday, Taub offered up this insight into his life and I was struck with this sense of "Oh wow, I know exactly what he's talking about!" In college, Taub often felt like everyone handled stress better than he did, which led to him cutting himself. As a college student myself who is more frequently than not fraught with stress - stress I feel like everyone deals with better than me - I could actually relate to him. Additionally, in a society where cutting, or injuring in other ways, has become so prevalent and has affected many close to me, that hit home for me as well. Overall it was very refreshing to find a connection with one of the characters - and one I would have never expected, too.

March 11th - Huh

So Brennie and I were on Chatroulette and I'm pretty sure we saw Ashley Tisdale.

Also, GAC Idol was good.

Happy weekend!

March 10th - Happy Thursday

I don't like when a title does not clearly present itself. I have trouble coming up with ideas on what to call these entries. It's very frustrating.

Last night I watched The Amazing Race. It was one of those episodes where you knew who was going to get eliminated pretty early on, and it's not a team you care about, so you're just like...meh. It was good though, and I'm always happy to see teams I like not faltering all over the place.

Work again tonight, then studying for my test in Faith, Religion and Culture. That class is awfully morbid, by the way. Everyday we talk about how we're all going to die. Not the most uplifting thing, you know?

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

March 9th - That's a little misleading

I was just looking back at the titles of some of my older entries and saw "Sentence Date" and the first thing that came to mind was a jail sentence. I hope no one else thought that when they saw it...but in hindsight, that's totally what it looks like.

I'm giving up sweet baked goods for Lent (brownies, cookies, muffins, etc.), so we'll see how that goes! Last year (the only other year I've done Lent, actually) I gave up soda, then ended up just giving it up for the rest of the year. I wonder if that will happen again?

Now off to dinner, then work. Excitement! Extroglava!

March 8th - Holy New [H]ouse Episode

I watched last night's new House episode. Oh my goodness. I almost cried. I thought people were dying and then I was yelling at the screen and holy cow. It was mega-intense crazy times. You absolutely must watch it. There's a song and dance number and Hugh Laurie is singing and words cannot express how much I enjoyed it.

Homework time. Watch a movie about John Keats? Yeah, I can manage that.

March 7th - Stop that

Dear creep on the Gustavus campus,
Stop assaulting people. We don't like it. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Kate

So yeah, there have been a couple of sexual assaults around campus this weekend, and seeing as I go to a very secluded school with a very low crime rate, it's a little freaky. So know everyone is freaking out and flipping tits and everything is madness here at Gustavus. Thank you, 24-hour escort system. Also, yay for not working tonight.

Right. Is it July yet?

Sunday, March 6, 2011

March 6th - Four months

Four months until my birthday! Huzzah! However, there is something even more exciting happening in July...

Lexa and I might be going to Europe this summer! If all goes as planned, we'll be spending a month abroad, in Scotland, England and Italy. WHATTTT. Wouldn't that be just amazing? We'd even be in London for the Deathly hallows premiere! Ahhhhh!

Anyway, tonight is work and homework. Fun times.

March 5th - Focus

I need to pay attention. My package from DFTBA records (which has my DFTBA shirt and my Esther bracelet in it, woohoo!) has been here for two days now, and I keep losing track of time and not picking it up before our little post office place closes.

So, today has been pretty uneventful. I'm off to get dinner now. Don't know what I'm doing later.

In much more important news, Jon and Lexa and I had a wonderful chat last night. Lexa and I talked for like three hours, and then Jon joined us and we talked about...cryptids and Nessie and stuff like that. It was very strange. And I loved it.

March 4th - Sentence Date

Upon watching John Green's video from today, I discovered that today's date is a sentence! March forth! Spelled differently, sure, but awesome nonetheless!

I tried some Moroccan food at African Night, and let me tell you something. They know how to prepare vegetables in Morocco. Also, their beef is spicy.

Brennie colored a pictureof Arthur (the aardvark) for me recently, so I put it up on my wall. Now I see it all the time, and the Arthur theme song pops into my head. I don't mind this though.

March 3rd - Flossing Day?

Oh Anfo. It terrifies me sometimes how much you know about my life. Time to go floss!

I'm all caught up on The Amazing Race and House now. Holy cow y'all. Next week's House looks like it's going to blow my mind. Next week's TAR will be good as always but I don't know about mind-blowing awesomeness.

Coincidence or brilliance is a question I am asking myself tonight.

March 2nd - Already?

I can't believe how fast time flies sometimes. You spend all of January thinking about how long it is until Spring, and how slowly the month is progressing, and then all of a sudden February goes by before you get a chance to welcome it and you're already into March. It is 83 days until the last day of school. It is 126 days until I turn 19, which is scary because I still feel very much like I'm 18. And then I'll be 20 - God knows I'm not ready for that. 20 is old. 20 means you're not a teenager anymore. Most of my memories in life are from me being a teenager. People get married in their 20's. And graduate college, and get jobs. I can't wait for summer, where the pace of the world seems to slow down and you feel like you have a lot more time on your hands. (And homework isn't taking up your time.)

I want to begin looking more deeply into study abroad opportunities. I found a really amazing program in Thailand that I'm considering, but I would also very much like to go to Europe, because there are so many places in Europe that I want to visit. I think Thailand would be more exciting culturally and really open up my eyes more to the world...but at what other point in my life could I spend 6 months in Europe? I think I might look into Thailand (or somewhere similar) as a J-term option and study somewhere in Europe (probably in Great Britain) for a semester. I'm excited to go abroad regardless though, since I've only been abroad twice - well, once was to Canada when I was like three years old, and only for a few hours, so that hardly counts. I did go to Jamaica though, which was very awesome. So, let's see what the future has in store, shall we?

March 1st - My Love Returned to Me

Anfo Stewart has come back into my life. Those of you who haven't been following the blog for a long time can't really appreciate this, but let me tell you...this is big. Anfo is the one and only love of my life. Always and forever. So Anfo, thank you for gracing me with your presence.

You loyal sycophant,
Kate
